Workshop Proposal Submission Guidelines

1. Eligibility, Logistics, and Session Setup

Submission Eligibility

  • Workshops are open to all conference delegates and can be organized independently, jointly with, or by GOHC. They can be either plenary or parallel sessions.
  • Workshop proposals can only be submitted by not-for-profit research institutions, not-for-profit organisations, or public health institutions.
  • Submissions from individuals or commercial entities will not be accepted for review.

Online Submission Process

  • Workshop proposals can only be submitted online via a conference user profile on https://www.conftool.com/wohc2026/. Submissions by fax, post, or email will not be considered.
  • You must create an online user profile, but you don’t need to pay the registration fee to submit.
  • Deadline: The final deadline for submission is 13 March 2026, 23:59 WET.
  • Modifications: Proposals can be modified until the submission deadline.
  • Compliance Check: A check-box is provided and is a necessary step before submitting. If you cannot answer yes, you will be asked to elaborate further.

Workshop Duration and Setup

  • All workshops are 90 minutes.
  • Standard room setup (theatre style) and audio-visual equipment will be included.
  • Standard room size is for maximum 70 attendees maximum.
  • Gender Balance: Proposals must comply with GOHC’s commitment to strive for a gender balance in all suggested panels and sessions.
  • Costs: Any additional setup and A/V requirements, and all lecturer/speaker costs (including registration, travel, accommodation, food, and beverage), will be at the expense of your organization.

2. Workshop Content and Format Requirements

Language and Formatting

  • Language: All workshop proposals must be written in English.
  • Font: A standard font, e.g., Arial, should be used when formatting the text.
  • Accuracy: It is the author's responsibility to submit a correct proposal. Any errors in spelling, grammar, or scientific fact in the proposal text will be reproduced as typed. Workshop titles will be subject to a spell check if the workshop is selected.

Required Content and Word Limits

  • The proposal's main text body is limited to 450 words.
  • Titles are limited to 30 words.

A short description of the workshop's aim and significance is mandatory (min 75 - max 450 words), and must include:

  • Introductory sentence(s) providing the background.
  • Importance / innovation / impact / relevance.
  • The educational outcome of the session (how it will benefit the audience).
  • Propose Workshop Format and Methodology – Detail the structure of the 90-minute session. Explicitly describe the interactive/hands-on components, participant-to-facilitator ratio, materials, and specific tools or activities used (e.g., small group breakouts, case study analysis, live tool demonstration, participant problem-solving sessions). This section should clearly demonstrate how the workshop delivers practical skills.
  • Propose lecturers/facilitators (you may involve more junior chairs alongside a senior chair, provided they have the right expertise).

Social Media (GOHC 2026)

GOHC may share your contribution to the 9th World One Health Congress via social media. You are invited to provide a 250 characters maximum message that summarizes the main content of your work. Please also provide the platform and social media handle of the submitting author. This section will help us promote successful concept note driven sessions, and your social media description is not included in the word count.

3. Scientific Topics and Review Process

Workshop Topics

Topics can include, but are not limited to, the following 12 One Health themes: 

  1. Climate change, Environment, & Ecosystems Health
  2. Biodiversity, Wildlife & Pathogen Interfaces
  3. Food Systems, Agriculture & Plant Health
  4. Pathogens, Microbiome & Intervention Strategies
  5. Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)
  6. Data, Technology & Innovative Analytics
  7. Knowledge, Education & Communities
  8. Governance, Policy & Legal Frameworks
  9. One Health Implementation & Financing
  10. Preparedness, Resilience & Economic Evaluation
  11. Biosecurity, Biosafety & Global Health Security
  12. The critical role of the private sector in One Health policy

Review Criteria

All submissions will undergo a peer-review process carried out by an international reviewing committee. Each submission will be reviewed by at least two reviewers based on five criteria: 

  1. Practical Utility & Learning Outcomes: Clear, achievable, and practical learning outcomes (e.g., participants will gain a new skill, tool, or methodology). (weight 25%)
  2. Interactive /Hands-on Component: The proportion and quality of active participant engagement (e.g., exercises, group work, demonstrations) versus passive listening. (weight 25%)
  3. One Health Application: How the skills/tools taught in the workshop are applied to or advance a key area of One Health practice or research. (weight 25%)
  4. Diversity & Expertise (Facilitators): The facilitators possess relevant, recognized expertise, and the team represents appropriate diversity (e.g., professional sector, geography). (weight 15%)
  5. Resource & Feasibility: The proposal is realistic in terms of time, necessary materials, and required space for the proposed activities. (weight 10%)

4. Acceptance, Publication, and Scheduling

Selection and Notification

  • Selection: Proposals may be accepted as submitted, only in part, or following adaptation/merging with other proposals. Factors include content, novelty, speaker quality, gender/geographical balance, and overlap. The results will not be discussed.
  • Submission Confirmation: A confirmation email will be sent to the submitter and all co-authors. Ensure emails from wohc2026@conftool.com are not filtered as spam.
  • Acceptance/Rejection: Notification will be sent only to the submitting (corresponding) author, who is responsible for informing all co-authors of the status. Accepted authors will receive further instructions.

Publication and Program Scheduling

  • Publication: Your accepted proposal may appear in its full form in the abstract book and on the virtual congress platform.
  • Program Commitment: By submitting, lecturers and organizers agree to be available for the entire duration of the congress.
  • Scheduling Changes: Requests to change allocated time slots cannot be guaranteed. The organizer reserves the right to change dates and times if needed, making every effort to find a suitable alternative.
